The Ringwarte Hartberg is a striking observation tower on the summit of Ringkogel (approx. 789 m) in the East Styrian hill country. The tower stands around 30 meters tall and leads up 99 steps—once at the top, an impressive panorama unfolds over vineyards, rolling hills, and far into the region.
The Ringwarte was built back in 1906 under Mayor Raimund Obendrauf. A good hundred years later, during the renovation in 2006/2007, the area around the tower was renewed and a new shelter was erected.
In addition to the view, the area around the Ringwarte also offers an archaeological trail: The path runs along a former ring wall of the Celtic settlement on Ringkogel and includes six information stations on the settlement history. Families also appreciate the playground with a suspension rope bridge and an approximately 11-meter hillside slide, making the destination even more attractive.
The Ringwarte is open seasonally from early April to the end of October, Wednesday through Sunday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Mondays and Tuesdays are closed, and the facility may remain closed in bad weather.
An ideal spot for a hike or a leisurely excursion—whether in daylight for the panoramic view or at sunset for atmospheric scenes.
