Riegersburg Bird of Prey Sanctuary

The Riegersburg Bird of Prey Sanctuary is a spectacular destination in Styria, offering fascinating insights into the world of raptors. With over 30 years of experience in falconry and raptor studies, it is one of Europe’s leading facilities—it was the first bird of prey sanctuary in Europe to be awarded the highest “Category A” zoo status.

In impressive flight demonstrations, visitors can experience eagles, eagle owls, griffon vultures, bald eagles, and many other majestic birds up close. The birds perform dynamic flight maneuvers, gliding elegantly or diving at high speeds—an adventure for all ages.

The facility places great importance on species-appropriate care: each of the approximately 30 birds of prey at the sanctuary enjoys daily free flights of up to five hours—here, quality truly comes before quantity.

Especially family-friendly: in addition to the flight shows, there are photo opportunities with birds of prey, a falconry shop, special packages (e.g., “Be a Falconer Yourself”), and group offers.
