Herberstein Garden Castle

Herberstein Garden Castle is a fascinating gem in Eastern Styria: majestically situated on a rock above the dramatically beautiful Feistritz Gorge, it unites over 700 years of architectural and family history. The first sections were built as early as the 12th century; over the centuries, extensions in Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque styles were added.

Visitors enter an architectural marvel: from the medieval castle complex to the magnificent Florentine Courtyard and splendid state rooms, the castle offers fascinating insights. Guided tours reveal what life was like in the castle in earlier times – with living quarters, work areas, and impressive furnishings.

The garden is also a highlight: the Historic Garden, with its rose garden, geometric beds, and pavilion, reflects 16th-century garden art. For events such as weddings, corporate functions, or photo shoots, the castle provides an exclusive backdrop – combining nature, art, and style.

Those who want more than ‘just’ a castle experience will find culture, history, and nature all in one: a stroll through the gardens, a visit inside the castle, and the view over the landscape make the excursion a truly special experience.
